HAYDN & MOZART CYCLES IN ITALY

In spring 2008 Shelley will complete his cycle, which started in 2002, of all Mozart's Piano Concertos together with Haydn's 12 'Paris' and twelve 'London' symphonies with the Orchestra di Padova et del Veneto.

  SPOHR ANNIVERSARY 2009

With the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano Shelley has embarked on a series of recordings of the 9 symphonies of Louis Spohr (1884-1859). "His compositions take their station among the masterpieces of Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven" Musical World

FOURTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON IN NAPLES, Florida

For the fourth consecutive season Shelley has been invited to start the season of the Naples Philharmonic in Florida and this time he will be both conductor & soloist.
Shelley will also make his debut as conductor with the Louisiana Philharmonic and plays Rachmaninov's 3rd Concerto in the opening Gala concert of the Louisville Symphony.
 
25 YEARS IN AUSTRALIA

Working towards the 25th anniversary in 2009 of his first Australian appearance, Howard's annual tour in 2008 will include concerts and CD recordings with both the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (in his dual role of conductor & soloist) and with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Richard Hickox (Eugene GOOSSENS Phantasy Concerto).
 
2008/9
Looking ahead to 08/09 Shelley is offering a range of programmes which mark the bicentenaries of Mendelssohn (birth) and Haydn (death) as well as the 150th anniversary of Spohr.

Just recorded - a further contribution to Hyperion Records 'Romantic Piano' series - world première recordings of Piano Concertos Nos 1, 2 & 3 of Ferdinand HILLER (pupil of Hummel and teacher of Max Bruch).

Pending release:
  • the first in a series of the symphonies of LOUIS SPOHR recorded with the splendid Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland.
  • William Sterndale Bennett Piano Concerto No 4 in F Op 19 & Francis Edward BACHE Piano Concerto in E major (BBC Scottish Symphony Orch) - both on the Hyperion label.

  • Back at the microphone
    This summer Shelley begins a major series for Hyperion of all the sonatas of CLEMENTI.
